Vision Quest

The vision quest has been used traditionally by Ancient cultures and Native American tribes as a transformative method to seek direction for life and as a doorway to enter spiritual realms. Retreating into nature in solitude, removed from the distractions and trappings of modern life, the vision quester opens to a heightened state of awareness.

An Earthtribe vision quest is held in April of each year and there are usually 8 people who quest. We camp out, spend time in nature, pray, laugh, hike and support the vision fasters and each other.

In the Earthtribe, a Vision Quest is a three-year process under the direction  of an experienced guide.

  • The first year, the vision quester must attend the Vision Quest encampment as a general supporter.  The supporters maintain the encampment and community during the quest.
  • The second step begins when the seeker declares the intention to quest. The vision faster chooses an experienced Earthtribe  guide and together they prepare for the vision quest.  It is a year of preparation and purification of body, mind and spirit. The vision faster spends  time in nature and prayer, paying attention to how the vision quest is showing up in daily life.  This culminates in fasting and sitting out in nature anywhere from 24 to 72 hours, depending on the previous experience of the vision faster.
  • The third year is spent processing the Vision Quest and integrating it into one’s life.  The vision quester gives back to the community by sharing aspects of the vision received that may benefit the tribe.
